Today, March 12, from 4:30 – 6:30, Givaudan/DDW will again hold community tables at UCHM to answer questions. The table information will be focused solely on property damage and repair. The team will not provide an update on the site or address site specifics.

Givaudan provided the following information about the site:

  • Recently, the Chemical Safety Board (CSB), a federal agency who is conducting a thorough investigation, published their preliminary report.

  • Their investigation is not yet complete and their work continues.

  • Until their investigations are complete, the CSB, KY OSHA, and the KY Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) have put in place an evidence and site preservation agreement. No demolition of the site can be done until this is lifted or all three government agencies give approval.

  • There have been many questions about the demolition: who, what, when etc. When Givaudan is able to plan this phase, based on the completion of the investigations and lifting of the preservation order, details will be provided.

  • Givaudan will not be rebuilding on the Payne Street site. Numerous other options are being considered, and it will take time before a decision is reached.

At the community tables on March 12, Givaudan, GRS and Crawford will be available to answer questions about property damage, repairs, and processes.

If your property was impacted, you now have three options to get the repairs completed. Givaudan’s goal is to make sure that all of the repairs are done properly and efficiently.

  • Homeowners’ Insurance – Many homeowners have chosen to work with their own home insurance provider and contractors for their home repairs, and this option continues to be available. Your insurance company will then submit a claim for reimbursement to Crawford & Co.
  • Homeowner-Managed (through Crawford & Co) – Other homeowners have chosen to hire their own contractors or do the repairs themselves without involving their home insurance provider, and, again, this option continues to be available. You may submit your claim for reimbursement directly to Crawford &
  • Community Repair Program (CRP) (through GRS)- GRS will assess your property damage and directly handle the repairs. In addition, GRS will provide a certification to participating homeowners that their property is structurally safe at the conclusion of the work at no additional cost to the homeowner.
