Givaudan remains committed to the community and helping individuals impacted by the accident in November. We have heard the community’s request for additional resources to repair damages and have secured an additional supplemental home repair option.
Givaudan has hired Gilbane Reconstruction Services, LLC, also called GRS Disaster Response, to perform home repairs as requested. We are calling this the Community Repair Program (CRP).
GRS Disaster Response uses construction services from Gilbane Building Company, which is one of the largest family-owned construction management firms and has been in operation for more than 150 years.
GRS has worked on several incidents including Super Storm Sandy and a gas over-pressurization event in Boston which impacted over 7,500 properties.
In the coming weeks, GRS will be in the community to:
- Connect with homeowners so they can learn more about their repair program and determine if they would like to participate.
- Provide a licensed structural engineering assessment of the property, which will be shared with participating homeowners and used to identify necessary repair work.
- Conduct home repairs to bring participants’ homes back to their pre-accident condition.
- Provide a final report assessing the structural safety of the property following any repairs made.
Homeowners whose properties were impacted now have three options to have repairs completed:
- Homeowners’ Insurance – Many homeowners have chosen to work with their own home insurance provider and contractors for their home repairs, and this option continues to be available. Your insurance company will then submit a claim for reimbursement to Crawford & Co.
- Homeowner-Managed (through Crawford & Co) – Other homeowners have chosen to hire their own contractors or do the repairs themselves without involving their home insurance provider, and, again, this option continues to be available. You may submit your claim for reimbursement directly to Crawford &
- Community Repair Program (CRP) (through GRS)- GRS will assess your property damage and directly handle the repairs. In addition, GRS will provide a certification to participating homeowners that their property is structurally safe at the conclusion of the work at no additional cost to the homeowner.
